Mapping of sediments in port of Klaipeda, Lithuania, in April 2011

Representatives from Maritime Institute in Gdansk, Ramboll Finland, Lithuanian Maritime Safety Administration and Coastal Research and Planning Institute in Klaipeda took part in the workshop on demonstration of the sediments mapping performed in Klaipeda Sea Port. Van veen grab sampling, parametric subbottom profiling and multibeam echosounding where introduced during the three hours field trip in the Klaipeda Strait. The workshop included also a discussion on progress and plans for the development of a joint sampling/mapping strategy, which will form an important basis to be used by ports for future mapping of sediments.
